I have never tried shooting medium format. Today I would more tend to the wider version. Since the cameras are not too expensive anymore, I would say give it a try when you have the possibility and sell the camera again, if you don't like it.The only question is if you want to get the gw690 or the much wider gsw690. There is an interesting Kickstarter project going on which can overcome this problem, see here. The other backdrop is that you need an external lightmeter, as none is built in. Otherwise the lenses are sharp, but not very fast, but this is a general problem of larger formats. I found mine also very reliable - since the only critical thing in there is the shutter, it should be possible to get service at any camera workshop that offers service for large format shutters.

These cameras are pretty big,but since I am not small myself, this has never been an issue for me. Reminds me to undust (not literally) mine. But have never seen one in person, but there are plenty on eBay. I also much prefer 6x9 to 6x7 (in terms of ratio). I can assume Leica experience when focusing. That's why this camera appeals so much to me: it's relatively new, so I'm hoping for a few years of worry-free operation, and it's a rangefinder i.e. I guess I haven't shot enough to run into shutter problems for now. You have no way to tell the actual number because the counter reset to 000 after 999. There is a shutter actuation counter on the bottom of the camera, when it says 500, it has been through 5000 actuations. I have heard about Fuji recommending service the shutter after 5000 actuations. Mine comes with a built-in lens hood, you need to push the lens hood forward in order to see & set the aperture and shutter speed settings, not a problem for me. I would recommend wearing it around your neck or shoulder when not shooting. The GW690II is basically a rectangle/cube, the grip is not comfortable and sometimes can press into your hands hard. Handling wise, it might be awkward by today's standard. The frame lines have decent parallax correction. The viewfinder is not the brightest but adequate for framing & focusing. In terms of focusing and shooting experience, it is similar to a Leica. However for context, I have only shot through 60-70 rolls in the 8 years. Personal subreddit flair can be used for instagram handles, flickr links, etc.I have owned the GW690II for about 8 years, travelled with it to Europe and Japan, never had a problem with it. “Critique Wanted” when specifically wanting critique, “Help Wanted” for questions, etc. Please submit promo links to the Self Promotion thread.ġ0) Flair your posts when possible e.g. If someone asks for a link then you can respond to that.
